Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg announced today that the company is planning to bring 5G to 30 US cities before the first quarter of 2020.

Though Verizon didn't say which cities are on its list to get 5G this year, it did make clear that it was talking about its new 5G Ultra Wideband service, powered by millimeter wave spectrum. That’s different from the 5G Home fixed broadband the company launched in cities like Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento late last year.

"Verizon 5G Mobility will launch in the first half of 2019, and Verizon 5G Home will expand coverage to more markets in the second half of 2019," the company wrote in a press release today.

Verizon has confirmed three upcoming mobile devices for the 5G network: Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Motorola's Moto Z3 with the 5G Moto Mod, and an Inseego MiFi 5G NR Mobile Hotspot. It is already offering home 5G broadband service using components from Inseego and Samsung.
