Verizon To Offer Integrated Wireless Video Service

Verizon's CEO Lowell C. McAdam announced that the company could launch a wireless video service by the end of the year. The new service will let pay-TV subscribers see some content on their mobile devices if regulators approve a proposed cable partnership.

The telephone company is yet to receive approval from the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice for buying spectrum license of $3.9 billion from operators like Comcast Corp, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Cox Communications Inc.

What's unclear is how Verizon's integrated service would work or differentiate itself from some of the services already out in the market. Apps such as HBOGo and MaxGo are already available for smartphones and tablets. While the apps are free to use, they require a pay-TV subscription to use.
