T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon Wireless will be working together to build Isis, a project designed to turn smartphones into wallet.

In addition, these rival carriers will build a general business network that plans to basically change how individuals shop, pay and save. They made the announcement on November 16. Isis also relies on mobile phones and near-field communications (NFC).

NFC uses short-term, wireless technology with high-frequency to pass encrypted details between gadgets. In countries like Japan, customers have already used this service, which basically turns their smartphone into a wallet, for many years now.

Michael Abbott, previously with GE Capital, has been chose to lead the project, which is anticipated to even out its service to main geographic markets for over 18 months ahead. Abbott state that their mobile business network, through associations with commercials, will offer an increased, more suitable, more personalized experience in shopping for customers.
