Sprint, Verizon Lead Wireless Customer Satisfaction Index

According to a report released yesterday by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), Sprint Nextel Corp. leads in the competition for customer satisfaction among the nation's four largest wireless carriers, along with longtime leader Verizon Wireless.

The report also showed that AT&T has the unhappiest subscribers. It scored a 66 out of 100, down from 69 last year, after the decision to buy T-Mobile USA for $39 billion.

"It is common to find a reduction in customer satisfaction after mergers, but it is rare for customer satisfaction to drop ahead of a merger," Claes Fornell, founder of the ACSI, said in a written statement. "Assuming the deal is approved, it remains to be seen if a much larger AT&T can regain the strength of its customer relationships."
