Sony patent hints at wireless phone-to-phone charging2017-03-17 16:29 by DanielaTags: Sony
Tech giant Sony has filed a patent which could allow devices to be charged by other devices. The patent is titled "Configuration of Data and Power Transfer in Near Field Communications." It describes a way to wirelessly transfer power between devices using near-field communication (NFC) technology. It doesn't specify that these devices would necessarily be phones, instead using the term "portable consumer electronic device." To function, the technology uses "a plurality of antenna systems" configured for wireless data and power transfers, coupled with a graphical user interface to simply the process of connecting devices. As detailed by Sony, both devices would need an NFC antenna for power transfer. Someone with a compatible smartphone could search for wireless power sources in much the same way you current browse for open Wi-Fi hotspots today. If you were to discover more than one power source available you’d need to select which one you wanted to draw a charge from. Read more -here-
