Google is reportedly considering running its own wireless network. According to The Information the company executives have been discussing a plan to offer wireless service in areas where it's already installed Google Fiber high-speed internet. The report cites a meeting between Google and Verizon officials in which the possibility of a Google MVNO was discussed.

MVNOs don't own the infrastructure their networks are built on. Instead, they buy access to parts of these networks at wholesale prices. The company can then use these networks to run its own wireless plans and resell the connectivity back to customers - usually at a reduced rate.

In 2013, Google reportedly talked to Sprint to launch a wireless carrier service that leaned on Sprint's network. Google had long worked with Sprint, offering a complete Google Voice package on its wireless devices. Right now, Google offers Fiber in Kansas City, Missouri and Provo, Utah, with Austin, Texas next in line to receive 1,000 Mbs Internet connections.

In February, the company announced plans to expand Google Fiber to 34 new cities, including Atlanta, Portland, San Jose, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, San Antonio, and Nashville.
