Netflix has released its monthly report on Internet service provider speed data, ordering ISPs based on the speed they provide for Netflix's streaming service. The report reflects the month of July.

"In the U.S., Charter rose to fourth place, up two in the ranking, with an average speed of 3.46 Megabits per second (Mbps), up from 3.37 Mpbs last month," said Anne Marie Squeo from the Netflix communications team. "Cox, Cablevision and Verizon FiOS retained the top three spots, in that order."

According to the report, Canada outperforms the US, with its best-performing service, Bell Canada (which uses a Fiber Optic network) achieving an average prime time speed of 3.73Mbps. On the second place in the country is MTS - Fiber Optic with 3.61Mbps.

The ISP Speed Index, as Netflix calls the report is updated every month. It is just a measure of Netflix, not the other aspects of customers' internet connections.
