Microsoft has rolled out a new holiday promotional campaign that aims, in part, to get people on Windows 7 to use Internet Explorer 9 rather than Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or other browsers.

When users of Firefox, for instance, click on the IE9 holiday offers link, they see a message saying: "Where's the love? You seem to be using Firefox.... Upgrade to Internet Explorer to pin these sites and get the free stuff." Users running Mac OS X who visit the free offers site see a different message: "Oh Nooooooo... You're using Mac OS which doesn't support Internet Explorer 9 and Site Pinning."

The campaign comes as Internet Explorer's overall share of the browser market declines to less than 50 percent across all types of computers and devices. Microsoft has been focusing heavily on IE9′s market share on Windows 7, which is now almost 35 percent, ahead of Chrome and Firefox.
