Hackers Hit Polish Government Websites

Internet hackers attacked a number of Polish public-administration websites, including that of the prime minister, protesting against Poland's plan to sign up for the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, which they said threatens to introduce online censorship.

A Twitter account using the name "AnonymousWiki" announced plans to attack government websites to protest the government's support for ACTA.

The prime minister's website wasn't available around noon on Monday after it earlier displayed a message from hackers identifying themselves as "Polish Underground." They claimed the government's servers were extremely easy to break into—the username had been "admin," while the password "admin1," they said.

"Stop ACTA!", read the hacked website. "Prime Minister Donald Tusk is a bad person! … You won't be censoring the Internet for us. You won’t take away human rights!"
