Google starts testing desktop "Voice Search"

Search giant Google has started testing a new "Voice Search" feature for desktop users. However, only a limited number of users can try the innovation. They will see a small grey microphone icon next to the search box, that instructs them to "Speak Now."

One of these privileged users, Matt Schlicht, says about the new feature:

"I'm seeing Google Voice search on google.com. Works surprisingly well but is very awkward to use in the office".

The desktop "Voice Search" comes as an extension to the Google's Mobile Voice Search. Currently, it is available on handsets, using Android, iOS or BlackBerry platforms. The latest version of Google's Chrome browser also provides voice recognition, which web sites can use.
