Julius Genachowski, the nation's top telecommunications regulator, warns that the nation's technology renaissance could turn into a chimera of dropped wireless calls, agonizingly slow downloads and budget-busting prices for mobile services. In North Carolina Friday, Genachowski, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission since June 2009, said the nation is running out of airwave spectrum needed to transmit e-mail, video and other wireless broadband signals. "The spectrum crunch is real," Genachowski said. "If we don't do something about it we'll face lousy service and sky-high consumer prices." He brought his message to the Triangle during a two-day visit to promote the Obama Administration's National Broadband Plan. Read more -here-
