Facebook on Monday unveiled a new safety page intended to complement the safety center the social-networking site launched in April.

"The safety page will highlight new initiatives to keep people on Facebook safe, valuable educational materials from Internet safety experts including the members of our Safety Advisory Board, and relevant news coverage," Joe Sullivan, Facebook's chief security officer, wrote in a blog post.

The safety page is modeled after Facebook's security page, which has over 2.2 million fans, Sullivan wrote. The safety page currently has almost 12,000 fans.

At this point, the safety page includes a video called "What Can Parents Do?," a link to a BBC News article about digital literacy in India, a blog post about grassroots suicide prevention on Facebook, a discussion about using Facebook in the classroom, and more.
