Dish is reportedly interested in acquiring T-Mobile & Sprint assets. The company is nearing an agreement to pay T-Mobile and Sprint at least $6 billion for wireless spectrum and wireless service Boost Mobile. A potential deal with Dish Network could pave the way for approval of the T-Mobile-Sprint merger.

Sprint is selling Boost Mobile in an effort to unload assets to gain regulatory approval for its upcoming merger with T-Mobile. The two companies have been aiming to sell Boost Mobile to appease U.S. regulators who believe the merger raises antitrust concerns.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai greenlit the merger in May, on the condition that T-Mobile and Sprint divested Boost Mobile as well as requiring them to build out 5G in rural areas and offer wireless home broadband good enough to substitute fixed-line.

T-Mobile and Sprint are the third- and fourth-largest carriers behind Verizon and AT&T. Should they merge, T-Mobile CEO John Legere would remain in his role.
