The FCC panel failed to reach consensus on recommendations to telecommunications companies and Internet providers on how to bolster their computer systems against cyber attack. The commission has prepared a draft report, recommending a list of strict cybersecurity controls to US telecoms. The final report is scheduled to be released Monday evening. The measures by the Federal Communications Commission panel range from recommending companies take inventories of acceptable devices and software to urging that they use automated tools to continually scan computers and networks for malicious software. The United States Telecom Association, whose members include AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc. and CenturyLink Inc., along with other industry representatives blocked a full endorsement of the list, according to advisers on the FCC panel. In their final report, members of the advisory panel agreed that they lacked consensus on how to protect U.S. telecom networks. Read more -here-
