Comcast will raise prices for TV and internet in January2020-11-26 17:51 by DanielaTags: Comcast, TV, Internet
Comcast is raising prices for cable TV and Internet service on January 1, 2021, with price hikes coming both to standard monthly rates and to hidden fees that aren't included in advertised prices. Customers will pay $4.50 more per month as a "broadcast TV fee" and $2 more for carriage of regional sports networks. Most Xfinity Internet packages will rise by $3 a month. Equipment and home security offerings will also get more expensive, as will installation. Professional installations and in-home service visits are set to increase to $100 from $70. The broadcast fee increase comes as Comcast is trimming back the number of broadcast stations it offers in some markets. According to TV Answer Man, Comcast customers in 38 markets will lose at least one local broadcast channel as the cable provider cuts back on providing multiple affiliate stations for the same network. Anyone who's still paying promotional rates won't see these price changes until that promotion ends, a Comcast representative reportedly told Ars Technica, "but the RSN and Broadcast TV fees will increase because they're not part of the promotional pricing."
