Comcast is going to expand its broadband portfolio for mid-sized businesses, by introducing Metro Ethernet services that deliver broadband performance speeds ranging from 1Mbps up to 10Gbps.

The network is intended for companies with 20 to 500 employees and it is offered as a "cost-effecive" upgrade from older technologies, such as multiple T1 lines and Frame Relay. Such a broadband solution can be used for SaaS applications, cloud computing and business process automation.

Users can choose between four different packages depending on the number of office locations, customer sites, and dedicated/private lines. Comcast has launched Metro Ethernet Services in over 20 U.S. markets so far. It plans to add coverage to additional markets in future.

Have ordered Comcast MetroE service (GigE), and they have good pricing, but like many big companies getting through all the corporate BS to actually get a quote and order in place is a major ordeal, and not a fast process at all.

I would love to report on how the service is working, but we are waiting on it to be installed at this time...
