Cisco unveils Cius - An Android running Tablet

Cisco has joined the tablet bandwagon with new tablet running Android OS. Dubbed as Cius, this tablet is aimed at the business segment. Oh well, it's likely to be compared with Apple iPad, Notion Ink's Adam and Asus Eee Pad. This 7-inch screen bearing tablet will offer HD video streaming, real-time video, multi-party conferencing and other functions like email, chat and web browsing. Cisco will make Cius tablet available in the first quarter of 2011.

New Cisco Cius tablet comes with a 7-inch high resolution touchscreen supporting contact-based touch targets. Cisco has added Android OS on the tablet with a bunch of apps collaboratively developed for the business-level users. The tablet has a virtual desktop client too that can access applications located on the cloud servers. Cisco has also added accelerometer for better viewing orientation.

Cisco TelePresence technology is credited for enabling 720p HD video for lifelike communication. This tablet also has a 5-megapixel rear facing camera which is capable of transmitting VGA quality videos.
