Remote hacks into Indian government computers have been traced back to servers in China.

According to Business Week, a report by the US research group Information Warfare Monitor and volunteer watchdog Shadowserver Foundation found that data on Indian military programmes was compromised. The report also found that sensitive information on army training and a member of India's Directorate of Military Intelligence was stolen.

The hacks took place while Indian Foreign Minister, S. M. Krishna, is on a diplomatic trip to China to defrost relations. Both countries have existing border disputes but India is now focusing on the data breach. Business Week quotes Sitansu Kar, a spokesperson for India's Ministry of Defence, who said, "This is a serious issue, and we are looking into it."

A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded, "China's government doesn't condone Internet attacks."
