The Chinese military has accused the U.S. of launching a global "Internet war", in reply of Google's accusations that Chinese hackers targeted its web mail service Gmail.

An article in the Communist Party-controlled China Youth Daily newspaper, said recent computer attacks and incidents using the Internet to promote regime change in Arab nations appeared to have come from the U.S.

"Of late, an Internet tornado has swept across the world ... massively impacting and shocking the globe. "Faced with this warmup for an Internet war, every nation and military can't be passive but is making preparations to fight the Internet war," it said.

Some foreign governments also claim they've been targeted by hacking attacks from China, but Beijing denies these statements and says it is also a victim of such activity.
