The official Twitter for fast food chain Burger King have been hacked Monday. The picture for the account was replaced by McDonald's logo. The hacker posted tweets that Burger King had been sold to McDonald's and the account had been taken over by McDonald's employees.

"We just got sold to McDonalds! Look for McDonalds in a hood near you @DFNCTSC," the hacker tweeted at 12:01 p.m. ET. @DFNCTSC is likely an account set up by the hacker. Several of the posts used obscenities or racial epithets.

The tweets stopped after a little more than an hour, and Burger King said it had reached out to Twitter to suspend the account. Later, Burger King, which usually tweets several times a week, said it was working to get the account back up. Typical tweets promoted sales on chicken sandwiches, or asked how many bites it takes to eat a chicken nugget.

"Interesting day here at Burger King, but we're back! Welcome to our new followers. Hope you all stick around!" the company tweeted. The illegitimate tweets have been deleted. No word on who may have been responsible for the breach.
