AT&T to launch new DirecTV Now service Nov. 30

AT&T has officially unveiled its DirecTV Now Internet TV streaming service. It will let viewers watch shows and movies over an Internet connection on smartphones, tablets, and PCs, without the need of a set-top box.

Both on-demand and live programming will be offered. There will be limitation to two simultaneous streams, which might be a problem in households with several viewers.

In general, the target audience is young people and especially those in urban areas where AT&T satellite TV service DirecTV, which it acquired in 2014, has historically lagged its cable TV rivals.

Starting Nov. 30, users can get 60-plus channels for $35 a month. As a promotion, early adopters will be able to lock in 100 channels for that price (that package will normally cost $60 a month). The other 2 package options are 80 channels for $50 a month and more than 120 for $70 a month.

The service will be available to existing and new customers.
