AT&T yesterday launched a new wireless service, dubbed Aio Wireless, that will provide customers with no-contract talk, text, and data. Initially, the service will be available in Houston, Orlando, and Tampa and the company plans to roll out the service in multiple markets across the U.S. over the next year.

Aio offers three no-contract plans for smartphone customers: Aio Basic with unlimited data (throttled after 250MB), talk, and text for $40 per month; "Aio Smart" plan priced at $55/month offering unlimited talk, text, and data, with a 2 GB soft cap on high-speed data; "Aio Pro" tier priced at $70/month increases the data soft cap to 7 GB. Gadget users can also add another 1GB of data to their device or add global calling and texting across 35 countries for a one-time or monthly payment of $10.

"We talked with no-annual-contract customers and created our service around what they want. They want simple, easy plan choices with unlimited offers; first-class service at affordable prices; great devices; nationwide voice and data coverage; and no annual contracts. Today's wireless customers don't want to compromise," said Jennifer Van Buskirk, president of Aio Wireless. "We are set up to win over value-conscious customers who are increasingly moving towards smartphones and mobile broadband."
