AT&T has announced the Netgear Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot Pro, the provider's first 5G hot spot for consumers. Before, only businesses had access to the company's 5G hot spot, and the only consumer product offered by AT&T the Netgear Nighthawk M1 supports 4G technologies, but not 5G technologies.

The device will be available on Sept. 18 for $510, or $17 per month on a 30-month installment plan. The new Nighthawk will be able to access AT&T's full 5G portfolio including its nationwide low-band service as well as the faster millimeter-wave 5G network that is available in parts of 35 cities.

Aside from that, the hotspot also leverages Wi-Fi 6, so it should at least be a safe bet in terms of future-proofing. It supports up to 32 connected devices at once, and it has a 5,040mAh battery, though AT&T doesn't specify how long that will last one a charge. It also has a touch screen, which should make it easier to set up the hotspot.

The release of the new hotspot comes simply a number of months after AT&T stated its 5G network is readily available across the country. According to the business, its 5G services are now readily available to over 205 million consumers throughout 395 protection markets in the United States.
