How do I find the IP address of my computer ?

Windows 9x/Me
From the Start menu, select the Run option. In the space provided, type WINIPCFG and press enter. A dialog box will be displayed, showing IPs/Gateways/Subnet masks for the different interfaces on your PC. The drop down list at the top of the dialog will show all of your interface devices. These may include your network card, dialup modem or xDSL adapter. Select the adapter that connects you to the Internet to view the coresponding IP address.

Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
From the Start Menu, go to Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. In the DOS Prompt window that opens, type IPCONFIG. You should see a list of interfaces and corresponding IP addresses.

Linux
From the shell prompt, type /sbin/ifconfig and press enter. You should see a report with list of devices and corresponding information about them. Locate the device that connects you to the internet, and make note of the "inet addr" This is your IP address.
