2. What hardware does the site run on ?

The site started on a webhosting plan in 1998, however we've gone through a few dedicated servers and a number of companies since then.
We were colocating at the BtN NOC near MAE East, with Hostaway in downtown Tampa, and currently we're at the 421 Church St. facility in Jacksonville, FL.

We maintain a couple of 1U/2U servers, Xeon processors, 12+Gb RAM and RAID1 SCSI drives.

The site runs on Fedora Linux, Apache web server, MySQL database backend and is coded mostly in PHP, with a few C elements for good measure. Pages are dynamically generated, and the entire site is maintained remotely via SSH, as well as a custom web-based administration interface.
