Apple has acknowledged user complaints that iPhone 15 and 15 Pro phones are overheating, but said that contrary to speculation, it has nothing to do with the phone's hardware design. According to Apple, the issue is the result of a combination of an iOS 17 bug and third-party apps and fixes are on the way. This is good news for new iPhone 15 owners, some of whom have been experiencing temperatures that make the handset "difficult to hold." "We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected," a spokesperson said in a statement. "The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring [it] because of increased background activity. We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update. Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We're working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out." Among the third-party apps that have been contributing to the iPhone 15 overheating are Meta's Instagram as well as ride-sharing app Uber. Apple said the apps were causing the phone's system to be overloaded and that it's "working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out." Instagram issued an update to its app last week to address the issue. Apple said the iPhone 15's titanium frame isn't causing the heat issue and that the metal is actually better at dissipating heat when the phone is running than older stainless-steel iPhones.
