A number of Verizon Communications' legacy plans are about to get more expensive.

Starting during the upcoming September bill cycle, customers on legacy Unlimited postpaid wireless plans including Go Unlimited, Beyond Unlimited, Above Unlimited and Start 1.0 will be charged an extra $3 per month, while the Single Basic Phone plan will increase by $5 per month.

"We felt it was the right time to take a look at pricing and remove what I'll call the introductory part of the pricing and move to something that reflects the value for what folks are getting," finance chief Tony Skiadas said at an investor conference on Wednesday.

Additionally, Verizon confirmed that starting August 29, the Single Basic Phone plan will see an added charge of $5/month per mobile phone line. As per Verizon's statement, the first month, customers may see a partial Plan Rate Adjustment charge in the One-time charges & credits section of their bills.

Rival AT&T had also said in July that it was raising the rates on its retired Unlimited Elite plan, with price increases starting to reflect from the August bill.
