Verizon is reportedly considering merger with Charter - the United States' second largest cable company. Charter sells cable TV and broadband subscriptions in local markets across the United States. Through a recent merger with Time Warner Cable, Charter now operates in big cities like New York City and Los Angeles. Merging the two companies would create a real media behemoth: It would bring together Verizon's more than 114 million wireless subscribers with Charter's cable network, which provides television to 17 million customers and broadband connections to 21 million.
