Netgear announced today a new Wi-Fi 6 high-end router - the Nighthawk Tri-Band AX12 (RAX200). At its heart, the AX12 has a 64-bit 1.8GHz quad-core ARM processor and is a 12-stream, Tri-band Wi-Fi router with combined wireless data transmission of 10.8Gbps (1.2Gbps + 4.8Gbps + 4.8Gbps). There are a total of four 2.4GHz streams and eight 5GHz streams available.

The device has five-gigabit ethernet ports, two ports can be combined for link aggregation. In addition, there is a full port on it that can handle up to 2.5 Gb/s.In addition to the Ethernet ports, there is 2x 3.0 USB on it.

Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) enables efficient data scheduling so that more transmissions can be sent at the same time, resulting in an impressive capacity increase in your network. This increased or available bandwidth allows you to add more devices to your network. Nighthawk Tri-band AX12 supports uplink and downlink OFDMA to efficiently use air-time with better frequency reuse, reduced latency, and increased network efficiency.

Support for 160MHz enabled mobile devices and laptops (Intel Gigabit Wi-Fi enabled devices) allows the Nighthawk Tri-band AX12 to stream at gigabit speeds to these devices.

The router will sell for $599 and is to be available in May 2019, but is up for pre-order now.
