Starting on 12 January, Microsoft ends support for old versions of Internet Explorer, including IE8, IE9, and IE10, as well as Windows 8. For end users, that doesn't mean the software will suddenly stop working. "End of support means there will be no more security updates, non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options, or online technical content updates," wrote officials on Microsoft's support page.Users who still use the older versions of Internet Explorer, will be putting their systems at risk, because in case new security holes occur, Microsoft will not provide a patch to fix them. For these old browsers, the company has also released a final patch (KB3123303) that includes the latest cumulative security updates and an "End of Life" upgrade notification. From now on, the company will only provide support and updates for its Edge browser (Internet Explorer 11). Windows 8 will also be abandoned.
