With the all-new Xbox Series X/S on the horizon, Microsoft announced in July 2020 that it was discontinuing the Xbox One X and the all-digital Xbox One S, leaving only the standard version of the Xbox One S (with the disc drive) as the sole remaining previous-gen Microsoft console still in production. Now, however, Cindy Walker, senior director of Xbox console product marketing, has told The Verge that "to focus on production of Xbox Series X / S, we stopped production for all Xbox One consoles by the end of 2020." The company is also still set to support the Xbox One for a yet-to-be-determined amount of time. Beyond the fact that many games (like the recently released Halo Infinite) are still coming out on all Xbox consoles, the few titles so far that are Series X/S exclusive, like Microsoft Flight Simulator, will be made playable on the Xbox One via Cloud Gaming. Microsoft's confirmation that it had discontinued the Xbox One platform-wide comes shortly after a report from Bloomberg that said that rival Sony will continue to make the PlayStation 4 this year, as PlayStation 5 supply remains scarce. Bloomberg reported that Sony had originally planned to end production of its last-gen PlayStation in 2021, but will make another million of them in 2022. The Xbox One debuted in 2013. One analyst estimates that more than 51 million Xbox One consoles were sold by mid-2020. Sony's PlayStation 4, which also debuted in 2013, has sold nearly double that number. Read more -here-
