Facebook Testing Free Wi-Fi Check-In Program2012-11-02 09:29 by DanielaTags: Facebook, Wireless
Facebook is testing a new Wi-Fi hot spot service for local businesses that lets users surf the net for free if they do a Facebook check-in. The test was first unearthed by Tom Waddington, who has a history of rooting Facebook tests and secrets out of code. What he found was a new category for "like sources" among the page insights. The new source was called "Social Wi-Fi," and the description reads as follows: "People who liked your Page after checking in via Facebook Wi-Fi."
Customers who aren't Facebook users can reportedly access the free Wi-Fi service by obtaining a free, temporary passcode from the business owner. But Facebook has not yet officially announced plans to roll out the social Wi-Fi router service to a wider group of businesses. Read more -here-
