Australia Has Most Government Intervention In Broadband Internet

A recent survey made by the Economist Intelligence Unit among 50 countries, shows that Australia has the most government intervention in national broadband internet planning.

The NBN Co. is a government-owned company and with NBN acting as both the passive and active network operator in urban and rural areas, in Australia there will be no infrastructure-based competition, according to the report.

"This is in strong contrast to countries such as Denmark and Switzerland, whose governments prefer to facilitate competitive market-driven rollout of technology-neutral solutions through regulation and industry facilitation," the report said.
