Apple has pushed back its return date for in-person work from Feb. 1, 2022, to "a date yet to be determined." The company also announced that three retail stores in Florida, Maryland and Canada will be closed due to a spike in COVID-19 cases at the locations.

Bloomberg reported that CEO Tim Cook sent a memo to staff on Wednesday informing them the company is "delaying the start of our hybrid work pilot to a date yet to be determined. Our offices remain open and many of our colleagues are coming in regularly, including our teams in Greater China and elsewhere."

"We regularly monitor conditions and we will adjust our health measures to support the wellbeing of customers and employees," Apple said in a statement, according to The Journal. "We remain committed to a comprehensive approach for our teams that combines regular testing with daily health checks, employee and customer masking, deep cleaning and paid sick leave," they added.

The Delta variant necessitated further delays, which were targeted to January, and then February of 2022.
