With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing around the world due to the Omicron variant, some companies are once again closing their retail stores. Now Apple has decided to close all of its stores in New York City after having temporarily shut down other stores across the US and Canada. Some one dozen locations in the city, including Fifth Avenue, SoHo, Grand Central and World Trade Center, will be temporarily closed to shoppers amid the rise in cases. It's unclear how long the stores will remain closed, however, customers who purchase items online can still pick them up in-store. "We regularly monitor conditions and we will adjust both our health measures and store services to support the wellbeing of customers and employees," the company said in a statement. "We remain committed to a comprehensive approach for our teams that combines regular testing with daily health checks, employee and customer masking, deep cleaning and paid sick leave." In February 2020, Apple closed its stores in China as news about the Coronavirus first started gaining global attention. By the time March and April 2020 rolled along, Apple was closing all of its retail operations in the states. But by March 1st of this year, all 270 U.S. Apple Stores had reopened. And while Apple requested that customers wear masks only in areas with a mask mandate, two weeks ago it once again demanded that customers wear one at all U.S. stores. Two weeks ago, Apple instituted a mask mandate inside its U.S. retail stores because of rising Covid-19 cases and a surge in the Omicron variant. Read more -here-
