Earlier this week, Broadcom announced that it has struck a new deal with Apple to supply its wireless components in the smartphone giant's products.

The agreements, "2020 SOWs", are in addition to the existing ones for supplying radio frequency components and modules to the iPhone maker and together could generate as much as $15 billion in revenue for Broadcom.

Broadcom is a major Apple supplier, providing radio-frequency chips that let iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches connect to cellular data networks. Broadcom has also supplied other components to Apple, including chips for connecting devices to Wi-Fi networks.

Apple's iPhone 2020 lineup will arrive in the latter half of this year and is expected to arrive with 5G networking capabilities. Thus, the new deal with Broadcom can also be looked at as Apple preparing for its upcoming lineup and even secure a deal in advance for its 2021 iPhone series.
