Amazon's decision to axe the encryption feature from Fire OS 5 has been reversed by the company these days.

Amazon quietly dropped encryption from Fire devices with the launch of its latest operating system, Fire OS 5, last fall. The company decided to remove support for encryption because its users were rarely taking advantage of the feature.

"In the fall when we released Fire OS 5, we removed some enterprise features that we found customers weren't using," said Amazon in a statement. "All Fire tablets' communication with Amazon's cloud meet our high standards for privacy and security including appropriate use of encryption."

However, now, the company has decided that this move is going to let its users down and confirmed that it's going to return encryption support to Fire OS devices through a future update.

"We will return the option for full disk encryption with a Fire OS update coming this spring," confirmed an Amazon spokesperson.
